Dan Wang, professor


Dan Wang graduated from Jilin University in 1994. He entered a master's degree program at his alma mater in the same year. He obtained his Ph.D. from Yamanashi University in Japan in 2001. He conducted his post-doctoral research at Kochi University, Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth and Kyoto University in Japan, successively. He was awarded by Hundred Talent Program of the CAS, and served as professor of the Institute of Process Engineering, CAS in February 2004. He also acted as director of Foshan Gaoming (CAS) Center for Novel Materials since 2009. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2014-), an executive member of the International Solvothermal Hydrothermal Association (ISHA) (2010-).  

In recent years, he mainly focused on the design and controllable synthesis of functional inorganic materials with porous or hollow structures, and their applications in photocatalysis, solar cells, lithium ion batteries, supercapacitors, and drug delivery etc. He has published over 130 papers; among them, 27 papers have been published in famous journals with impact factors above 10, such as Nat. Energy, Chem. Soc. Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., Nano. Lett., Nano Energy, ACS Nano. He sits on advisory boards of several international journals, such as Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Science, Advanced Materials Interface and Materials Research Express. He is an associate editor of Materials Chemistry Frontiers, and also serves as the editorial board of ChemNanoMat, Materials Research Innovation, Science Bulletin and Science China Materials.

His recent awards include the ”Ten Thousand Talent Program” Leading academic (2016), the 2nd Award of Science and Technology Award of Beijing Municipality (2015), Young and middle-aged leading scientists, engineers and innovators (2014), Evonik Particuology Innovation Award Presented in partnership with the Chinese Society of Particuology (2014), CAS Award for Outstanding Mentors (PhD Supervisors) (2014), the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2013), Japan-China Ceramics Science and Technology Collaboration Encouragement Award (2013).
